Psychological counselling
Hello, my name is Ekaterina Lukoshkina, I'm a PhD licensed psychologist in Switzerland with 9 years of experience providing therapy in Russian and English to individuals from all walks of life.

I provide consultations in the Geneva area as well as online

My goal as a psychologist is to create a warm, supportive, and culturally sensitive environment where clients can feel safe to explore their feelings.

Specialising in Evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive behavioural therapy and EMDR, I stay updated on the latest psychology research and continually advance my training. This ensures that my clients receive the most effective and scientifically validated interventions to address their specific needs and concerns.

About me
Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders in a variety of settings, including clinics, shelters, and crisis environments.

Having lived and worked in many countries helped me to develop a unique multi cultural perspective in work and the ability to connect with people from different backgrounds. As an expat myself, I have a deep understanding of the impact of identity trauma and the importance of providing compassionate and empathetic care to help individuals regain control over their lives.

I am deeply committed to using my skills and expertise to make a positive impact in the world, particularly for those who are most vulnerable. Being a co-founder of an international volunteer project offering emergency psychological assistance to war victims and refugees is a source of fulfillment for me.
I offer first intro session free of charge for you to get to know me a bit better and ask your fist questions.

Therapy approaches
  • EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy approach designed to help individuals process and resolve traumatic experiences and other distressing emotions. During an EMDR session, the therapist guides the client through a series of bilateral stimulation techniques, most commonly eye movements, but it can also involve tapping or auditory cues. The approach aims to help individuals reprocess traumatic memories, reduce emotional distress, and promote healing, allowing them to lead more fulfilling lives. EMDR is most commonly used to treat conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but it has also shown promise in addressing other psychological issues, such as anxiety, depression, and phobias.
  • Cognitive - Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT can be useful for a range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression and PTSD. CBT for trauma involves exposure therapy, which involves gradually confronting and processing memories of the traumatic event. CBT for anxiety typically involves identifying and challenging irrational thoughts, learning relaxation techniques, and gradually confronting feared situations. In CBT for depression, the therapist works with the client to identify and challenge these negative thoughts and beliefs, and replace them with more positive, realistic ones.
  • Short-term dynamic therapy (STDT)
STDT focuses on resolving emotional difficulties by exploring unconscious conflicts and feelings that may be affecting the patient's current behaviors and relationships. STDT aims to help patients gain insight into their emotions and behavior, develop more effective coping mechanisms, and improve their overall well-being in a relatively short amount of time. STDT can be useful for a range of mental health conditions, including relationship problems, self-esteem issues, and personality disorders. It may also be helpful for individuals who are struggling with life transitions, such as career changes or the loss of a loved one.
